About the role
Lilac is seeking a Process Engineering Technician to join the team responsible for improving the performance of Lilac’s mini pilot scale lithium extraction modules. The role is critical to supporting the development and scale-up of cutting-edge lithium extraction technology. Day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring process equipment, data & sample collection, and ensuring systems are maintained to a high standard.
What you'll do
- Routine daily monitoring of lithium extraction modules. Make observations in unit for any leaks or equipment failure that may create hazard or inefficiency.
- Perform inspections and maintenance of equipment such as pumps, valves, and sensors. Ensure all required preventative maintenance is completed. Perform equipment calibration as necessary.
- Refill process inputs such as brine, water, and acid. Manage process outputs by disposing of waste streams in compliance with protocols.
- Prepare brine for lithium extraction, including chemical treatment and filtration.
- Collect process samples from various stages of operation to support real time analysis and decision making. Support analytical work including preparing samples for ICP analysis and titrations.
Qualifications
- Familiar with laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interface and collaborate with other engineers, chemists, and operators.
- Pass a respirator fit test periodically, move up to 50 lbs on occasion, and wear PPE.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience.
- Experience working with process equipment in an industrial setting, preferably with brine solutions or water treatment systems.

- Hourly compensation $34 - 44/hr dependent upon geographic location and relevant experience. Overtime eligible.
