As an Accounting Manager at Impulse, you’ll be a key player in building a strong financial foundation, ensuring accurate reporting, and implementing efficient processes. This is a hands-on role with high visibility and the opportunity to shape the accounting function from the ground up. You’ll take ownership of the accounting function today—and grow into a leadership role as we scale. Responsibilities
- Own all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations, including:
- Journal Entries and Reconciliation
- General ledger management
- Monthly/quarterly/annual close processes
- Bank and account reconciliations
- Expense reporting and payroll oversight
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare and timely review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in compliance with GAAP
- Establish and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage external relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in partnership with leadership.
- Implement new accounting systems, tools and processes to support scale.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial insights and reporting needs.
- Collaborate with the Controller, who currently oversees AP/AR and Payroll. In the future it may lead to those functions transitioning under your management as the company grows and your leadership responsibilities expand
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and full-cycle accounting
- Hands-on experience with monthly close and financial reporting
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar) and Excel
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
- CPA, or working towards CPA
- 5+ years' background in public accounting (Big 4 or regional) combined with industry experience, preferred
- Prior startup or high-growth company experience, preferred
- Familiarity with implementing systems and scaling accounting operations, preferred
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
