Accrete is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant I to join our Finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including month-end close, account reconciliations, payroll entries, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

This position reports to the VP Controller and will work closely with Finance, People, and Operations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.

Month-End and Year-End Close

  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for account reconciliations.
  • Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies.

Payroll and Employee-Related Accounting

  • Record payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts.
  • Assist with accounting for benefits, commissions, bonuses, and equity compensation.

Accounts Payable and Expense Management

  • Review employee expense reports for compliance with company policy.
  • Support vendor invoice processing and payment tracking as needed.

Audit and Compliance

  • Prepare audit schedules and assist with requests from external auditors.
  • Support tax filings and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain documentation to support internal controls and accounting policies.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems and workflows.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth technology company.
  • Familiarity with payroll accounting and stock compensation.
  • Experience supporting annual audits.

Level: IC 2

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000

The salary range provided reflects the estimated compensation for this role based on the expected qualifications and experience level. The final offer may vary depending on factors such as skills, experience, and alignment with role requirements.
